About Jain Mahavira Temple 

Around sixty-eight kilometers from the city of Jodhpur Osian is a community well known for a variety of sanctuaries in the territory. It is a much-visited place of interest and a journey hotspot for Jains. The Jain Mahavira Temple was worked by Pratihara King Vatsa in AD 775 by, in recognition of Lord Mahavira. History 


The Mahavira Temple was is a significant tirtha for Jains. As per an engraving found at Sachiya Mata Temple going back to 956 A.D., it was worked during the Gurjara-Pratihara line by King Vatsaraja in 783 AD, making it the most established enduring Jain sanctuary in western India. The sanctuary had its first redesign in 956 AD during the hour of Acharya Ratnaprabhasuri. George Michell depicts the current fundamental sanctuary as "generally eleventh century", with parts from the eighth century. The "luxurious portal" is from 1015. The sanctuary was later remodeled in the twelfth century.


Design 


The Jain sanctuary is devoted to Mahavira and has a place with Śvētāmbara order of Jainism. The sanctuary is encompassed by encasing dividers comprising of garbhagriha, mandapa. The Torana before the sanctum is rich with luxurious carvings of Tirthankara in both padmasan and kayotsarga positions. The sanctuary has a huge picture of Mahavira. The dividers of the sanctuary have carvings of yaksha-yakshi, Tirthankara, and Vidhya Devi models. Vidyadevi figures are depicted as playing instruments. Eastern pieces of the sanctuary have figures of Mahavira and Parshavanatha. The northern, southern, western dividers of the sanctuary have carvings of Neminatha's life like birth, war, renunciation, and so forth.

The sanctuary is ensured by the Archeological Survey of India.
